Emir Of Kajuru Regains Freedom, As It Is Unclear If Ransom Was Paid


Kaduna State in the last few months, has experienced a spike in the number of abduction by Bandits, with Bandits also recording great success of kidnapping in North-West states of Nigeria. It is no longer news that the rate at which notable individuals, and School Students are being kidnapped in the North is becoming alarming, and has also become a thing of concern to the Nigerian Government. The abduction of the Emir of Kajuru, Alhasan Adamu, was the latest, in the kidnapping of high-profile personalities in Kaduna State.

Despite the incessant occurrence of kidnapping by Bandits in Kaduna State, the Governor of Kano State, Governor Nasir El-Rufai, has come out publicly to announce that his government would not negotiate with Bandits, or pay ransom to abductors, also threatening to sanction anybody that follow such path.

Recall that Gunmen numbering over 200 stormed the Palace of the Emir of Kajuru, and abducted the Emir of Kajuru, Alhasan Adamu, on Sunday, 11th of July, 2021, alongside 13 members of his family. In a latter development on Sunday, there were news flying allover the internet that the abductors of the Emir demanded a ransom of N200 million to facilitate the Emir\’s release.

Meanwhile in a recent development on Monday, 12th of July, 2021, at about 5pm, the Emir of Kajuru, Alhasan Adamu, was reported to have gained his freedom after 24 hours of abduction by Gunmen. Although the abductors reportedly asked for a huge ransom, but as at the time of filling this report by Deji Ogunsola, it is still unclear if a ransom was paid to secure the release of the 85-year-old Emir.

The news of the the release of the old Emir was confirmed on Monday by the a top official of the Kajuru Council Arear (KCA) as well as the Spokesman of Kajuru Emirate Council, Dahiru Abubakar, to Newsmen in Kano. He further disclosed that the Emir was released at an undisclosed location within Kajuru Local Government Arear of Kaduna.
