FIFA is seriously considering moving this year's World Cup forward by one day.
The World Cup which ought to start on Monday November 21 could now be moved to Sunday
November 20.
The effect of the proposed change means Qatar vs. Ecuador will now take place on November 20 after
the opening ceremony following pleas from the hosts.
The change would allow the Netherlands game against Senegal, which is also in Group A, to move from a
lunchtime kick-off on Monday, 21 November to an evening slot.
England\’s game against Iran will not be affected as the second game of the tournament in Group B,
being played in the afternoon of 21 November.
The decision to change the start date of the World Cup still needs to be approved by the Bureau of the
FIFA Council.
