Manchester City has announced the signing of Spanish Under-21 defender Sergio Gomez from Anderlecht.
The 21-year-old signed a four-year deal for a fee of 13m euros (£11m) plus add-ons for the defending Premier League champions.
The Barcelona La Masia Academy product will wear the No 21 shirt previously worn by fellow Spaniard David Silva, who won four Premier League titles and 10 other trophies during his time with City. Ferran Torres also wore the No 21 shirt during his unimpressive short stint at City before joining Barcelona in 2021.
Gomez stated at his unveiling that it was a dream come true for him to be a Cityzen, whilst promising to give his best on the pitch and hopefully they can achieve great things together.
He is City’s direct replacement for Oleksandr Zinchenko after the Ukrainian ace left for Arsenal earlier this summer which left Joao Cancelo as the only senior specialist in the position.
The Left-back registered an impressive 15 assists in 49 games for Anderlecht last season.
