Troops Neutralize Key Bandits’ Leaders, 48 Others in Zamfara

Not fewer than 48 bandits were neutralized by troops of 8 divisions, Nigerian army operating in Zamfara in the ongoing clampdown on banditry and other heinous crimes in the North West.

Key bandits’ leaders were also killed by troops while another notorious gang leader, simply identified as Jummo, sustained gunshot wound, the Nigerian army has said.

The director army public relations, brigadier general Mohammed Yerima, in a statement, said the offensive against the criminal elements, followed the directive of the chief of army staff, lieutenant general Ibrahim Attahir, to the division to stabilize the area to facilitate the return of socio-economic activities.

Eighteen kidnap victims were rescued while eight ak-47 rifles, one g3 rifle, one PKT and a machine gun were recovered from the criminals.
