Two late goals from Karim Benzema helped Real Madrid defeat 10-man Espanyol at the  RCDE Stadium on Sunday.
Vinicius Jr gave Real the lead from a clever Aurelien Tchouameni ball in the 12th minute before Joselu equalized for the Periquitos with two minutes left before half-time. The match was heading towards a draw before Benzema’s brace in the 88th and 10th minute of added time to seal a 3-1 win away from home.
Elsewhere, at the Camp Nou Barcelona claimed back-to-back La Liga wins with a comfortable 4-0 thrashing of Real Valladolid. Robert Lewandowski got a brace while Young midfielder Pedri and Sergi Roberto also registered their names on the sheet.
Meanwhile, Sadiq Umar’s goal sunk Sevilla in Almeria’s comeback 2-1 win at the Estadio de los Juegos Mediterráneos. The Nigerian striker scored the winner in the 55th minute to secure his Club’s first win of the season while at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez stadium,  Samuel Chukwueze’s Villareal were held to a 0-0 draw by Gatafe in a game that saw the Yellow Submarines fluff all of their chances. Chukwueze was introduced in the 58th minute for Jose Luis Morales.
RCD Mallorca traveled to Madrid to pick the first win of the season after two defensive mistakes cost Rayo Vallecano a 2-0 loss. Also, Real Sociedad bounced back after a 1-0 away win as Elche. Though Mikel Merino missed a penalty, Brais Mendez 20th minute goal was enough to seal the win for the Los Bermellones.
Furthermore, Real Betis continued their fine start to the La Liga season with a 1-0 win against Osasuna. They have now won the three-successive game for the first time since 2011/12 campaign while Iago Aspas’ second-half strike was enough to steal a 1-0 for Celta Vigo over Girona.
On Monday Valencia will host Atletico Madrid while Athletic Bilbao will travel to play Cadiz to wrap up Match week 3 in the Spanish La liga.
