THE ORGANISED LABOUR IN EKITI STATE ON MONDAY CALLED OFF THE THREE-DAY WARNING STRIKE EMBARKED UPON IN THE STATE PUBLIC SERVICE OVER WELFARE AND OTHER ISSUES.

THE ORGANISED LABOUR, COMPRISING THE NIGERIA LABOUR CONGRESS, TRADE UNION CONGRESS AND JOINT NEGOTIATING COUNCIL, HAD ON SUNDAY ORDERED THE COMMENCEMENT OF THE STRIKE ON MONDAY FOLLOWING THE EXPIRATION OF THE 14-DAY ULTIMATUM IT EARLIER ISSUED TO THE STATE GOVERNMENT.

IN THE RESOLUTIONS AT THE END OF MEETING BETWEEN THE STATE GOVERNMENT AND ORGANISED LABOUR MADE AVAILABLE TO JOURNALISTS ON MONDAY, IT WAS STATED THAT THE STRIKE HAD BEEN CALLED OFF “IMMEDIATELY”.

THE DOCUMENT, ENTITLED “RESOLUTIONS AT THE MEETING OF THE MEETING OF THE STATE GOVERNMENT WITH THE ORGANISED LABOUR ON THE OUTSTANDING WELFARE ISSUES OF EKITI STATE WORKERS” WAS SIGNED BY THE HEAD OF SERVICE, MRS PEJU BABAFEMI; THE SENIOR SPECIAL ASSISTANT LABOUR, CHIEF OLAYEMI ESAN; AND PERMANENT SECRETARY, SERVICE MATTERS, MR BAYO OPEYEMI FOR THE GOVERNMENT.

OSUN STATE JOINT TASK FORCE ON COVID-19 SAYS IT WILL BEGIN ENFORCEMENT OF SAFETY PROTOCOLS IN THE STATE.

A STATEMENT ISSUED BY OSUN STATE DEPUTY GOVERNOR, MR BENEDICT ALABI SAYS THAT STRONGER PUNITIVE MEASURES WHICH INCLUDE THE DEPLOYMENT OF MOBILE COURTS AND  IMPOSITION OF FINES ON DEFAULTERS WILL BE PUT IN PLACE FOR THE ENFORCEMENT OF COVID-19 SAFETY PROTOCOLS.

MR ALABI NOTED THAT HOTELS, CLUBS AND BARS THAT FLOUT COVID-19 SAFETY PROTOCOLS SHALL BE CLOSED AND FINED N250,000 WHILE DEFAULTING WORSHIP CENTRES SHALL BE CLOSED AND FINED N100,000.

HE MAINTAINED THAT PRIVATE HOSPITALS CAUGHT TREATING COVID-19 PATIENTS SHALL HAVE THEIR ESTABLISHMENTS SHUT AND THE OWNERS’ OPERATING LICENSE WITHDRAWN. THE DEPUTY GOVERNOR SAID INDIVIDUALS WHO FLOUT THE SAFETY PROTOCOLS OF THE STATE GOVERNMENT, AFTER BEING TRIED, SHALL BE SENTENCED TO COMMUNITY SERVICE WHILE MOTORCYCLES THAT CARRIED ABOVE APPROVED LOADING CAPACITY SHALL BE SEIZED AND FINED N2,000 AS WELL AS BUSES AND MINI-BUSES THAT VIOLATE THE APPROVED LOADING CAPACITY SHALL BE SEIZED AND FINED N5,000
