CSO trains vulnerable women, PWDs in Mushin LGA on ways of sourcing for funds for SMEs

A civil society organization, Advocacy for Anti-Bribery Corruption and Crime Prevention Initiative on Tuesday organized a workshop on Ways of Sourcing for funds for SMEs and Finance Management for vulnerable women and PWD in Mushin Local Government.

Convener of the workshop and Team Lead, AABC&CPI, Imam Sani Okusanya disclosed that research has revealed that access to funding remains a big barrier for women entrepreneurs in Mushin LGA.

“The aim of this workshop is to educate our women and PWDs on how to source and manage funds that will help grow their small and medium scale enterprises, we realize that getting capital to start a business is a big challenge for our women”

He added that the workshop will provide practical solutions and recommendations on expanding the ability of women entrepreneurs to pursue economic opportunities, invest additional capital, hire more employees, and grow their businesses.

Mr. Ganiyu  Jamiu , a chartered accountant while delivering his lecture on ways of sourcing for funds identified different sources of funding such as self-funding &personal savings , assistance from family friends , trade credit, Interest free loans and angel investors.

He urged the government of Nigeria to encourage microfinance banks and other, monetary institution to support 32 the SMEs in Nigeria

Another speaker at the workshop, Mr. Adedeji Fatai advised women entrepreneurs to always keep proper records of their finances while efficient cash management is also imperative for small businesses success and growth.

The workshop organized by Advocacy for Anti-Bribery Corruption and Crime Prevention Initiative in conjuction with European Union, British Council and Agents for Citizens – Driven Transformation had in attendance women entrepreneurs , business owners and People with Disabilities.
