A bill mandating the teaching of vocational studies in Nigeria’s secondary schools has passed the second reading in the House of Representatives.
The bill which was sponsored by hon. Joseph Asuku Bello representing Adavi/Okehi federal constituency of Kogi state was first read on the floor of the lower chamber on 2nd July, 2020.
In his lead debate, hon. Asuku explained that the compulsory teaching of vocational studies was to make the younger Nigerians Skillful at secondary school level and make them productive to themselves and the society in their adult years.
Meanwhile there was apprehension this morning, as operatives subjected lawmakers, their aides and visitors to thorough stop-and-search at the access gates of the national assembly complex.
The exercise created a massive traffic gridlock with entrance to the complex extremely difficult.
Though the operation may not be unconnected with security threats in the country and claim by Niger governor that Boko Haram fighter were just two hours away from the FCT.
