Audio: Lions Club Yaba District 404A1 celebrate International Day of Forests

Every year, March 21st is celebrated as the international day of forests.

The day is aimed at raising public awareness about the values, significance and contributions of the forests to balance the life cycle on the earth.

Various organizations, private and government , work together on this day to enlighten the public not only about forests but also the trees and vegetation that exists outside the forested areas.

The theme for this year’s international forest day is “Forest restoration; a path to recovery and well- being”. Forests are home to about 80% of the world’s terrestrial biodiversity with more than 60,000 tree species. Around 1.6million people depend directly on forests for food, shelter, energy, income and medicines.

As part of efforts to enlighten the public about forest restoration, International Association of Lions Club Yaba District 404A1 featured on Yabatech Radio 89.3FM Random Talk

Lion Ano Anyanwu, Chairperson Environment Service Committee District 404A1 and Lion Bolare Abioye, President Yaba Lions Club District 404A1 Nigeria spoke on a wide range of issues concerning forest restoration.
